A wedding is all about looking your best; isn't it? And what else can make you look more fabulous than a gorgeous, elegant, and stunning wedding lehenga. Yes, there are many who pick a saree over lehenga on their wedding; but never mind, you can easily wear a beautiful lehenga for your reception, which will enhance your beauty instantly and you'll look nothing less than a princess. The work done over a bridal lehenga is usually as dazzling as the dangles or the glimmering neckpiece you'll be wearing. But, one thing that will add another star to your look is the lehenga's dupatta.
The most common and boring way to drape a dupatta over lehenga is the same old missionary method, which is by just draping it over your head. But did you know there are a few more quirky ways to drape a dupatta over your wedding lehenga? No? Then here you go:
1) Nizam style draping
You are going to love this draping style because, this was the style which Deepika Padukone has utilized in Bajirao Mastani, rather Anju Modi has tried and tested on her. In this draping style, one of the dupatta will be placed on your head; and the another one, preferably a thicker one (it can be a shawl in winter)would be draped around the back of your waist line and then placed on both the wrist.

2) Dual dupatta draping style
In the 'dual dupatta' draping style, you'll basically have to drape two dupattas on your wedding lehenga. This draping style can be really useful if you have a plain choli. One dupatta will spread across your bust area or stay pleated neatly on one of your shoulder, and the another one on your head.

3) Runway style draping
In the runway style draping, you again need two dupattas. But in this style, both the dupattas will be of different colors, material, and design (in contrast with the wedding lehenga/choli). In this runway style, you simply need to drape one dupatta in the normal Gujarati style, in which the embroidery part covers the bust and tummy; and the other dupatta will be simply pleated and draped over one of your wrist. This is that one draping style which is used mostly in bridal fashion shows.
Half saree draping
If you want to give your lehenga a half saree look, then drape your stunning wedding dupatta in a half saree style. To do this, you need to tuck in the opposite corner of the dupatta at the back, and rest would be draped all over your left shoulder, similar to a saree's pallu. If you have a dupatta made of soft material such as chiffon, silk or satin, then this method of draping would work out really well.
Pakistani style draping
If you want to give yourself a 'begum' type look, then go for this Pakistani draping style. To don this style, all you need to do is drape the dupatta (usually the embroidery-border part of the dupatta) on your head, then pleat any one part of the dupatta and drape it over a wrist. A jhumar on the side of your head would complement the look.
So, these are some of the quirky ways in which you can drape dupatta over your wedding lehenga. And believe it or not, each draping style would change your entire look. If you want to look your best (of course, you would love to!), then have a look at the wedding lehengas from Simaaya.
